PostHeaderIcon How to Cope With Allergies – Pollen Problems

Dealing with allergies pollen related issues can be a huge deal for those who love to work outside. When allergy season comes along, a person may long to go out and begin planting or just take a walk around their neighborhood.

However, because of their negative reactions, they may be unable to perform these simple acts. The question of how one deals with this condition at the peak times of the year is up for grabs.

Many different websites give a person varied information on how to deal with these seasonal allergies, but a few tidbits of information are staples that no one can deny if they want to effectively deal with their circumstances.

One of the best ways for a person to deal with allergies pollen symptoms is to do major spring cleaning. Cleaning one’s living space can help to reduce the allergens in their home quicker than anything. In order to get rid of residue pollen, one should make sure to wash their bed linens in water that is at least 130 degrees.

This will ensure that all the pollen and dust mites are killed. Also, a person should vacuum at least once a week. The vacuum should have a HEPA filter on it.

Since negative reactions to various things are so rampant these days, most new vacuum cleaners are equipped with the new filters. If one has serious negative reactions to pollen related problems they should consider putting a special covering on the bed that is allergen proof.

Having allergies pollen related problems can be hard to swallow when it comes to yard work. If one must do certain things such as mow the lawn, they should wait until peak pollen time is gone and should definitely wear a mask.

Even with a mask however, one’s airways can become constricted causing coughing and breathing issues. This is one chore that should be delegated to another person in order to avoid having to cough for weeks to come.

Allergies pollen linked symptoms can slow a person down when certain seasons such as spring and fall come around. The pollen count can be so devastating that the act of breathing may be difficult for some.

If an individual who suffers from allergies pollen associated issues is well informed of their condition and knows how to take steps to avoid an allergy flare up with the seasons will be looked at as something of a welcome change and not something that can make a person swell.

PostHeaderIcon Help for Multiple Sclerosis and Paraplegia Patients

Paraplegics and those suffering from multiple sclerosis often struggle with normal sexual relationships, but Viagra (sildenafil) can be the answer that restores effective erectile function. Sexuality is a major part of self-esteem, and those suffering from long-term physical issues which prevent erection discover that the emotional damage can be devastating over time.

Emotional effects of ED on men

The physical limitations of not being able to achieve an erection are pretty clear, but what’s harder to see is the damage it’s causing to self-esteem. Being unable to perform sexually can be very emasculating, as well as upsetting.

A vicious circle

As both partners in a sexual relationship become frustrated, the tension surrounding intercourse only increases. This negativity can begin to undermine the foundation of the relationship itself, not limited just to sexual aspects. It’s almost impossible to battle the far-reaching effects of this alone, or even together, without the help of medical intervention.

Especially for paraplegics

Oftentimes, the ability to resume normal sexual relations is a primary concern for those who have suffered a spinal cord injury. Due to the nature of the physical affliction, it is often physically impossible for these men to achieve erection unassisted. Prior to the advent of sildenafil, the only answer was an injection directly to the penis. Now, by using sildenafil instead, more spontaneity can return, as well as a return to more natural sexual rhythms.

Especially for multiple sclerosis

Sildenafil has long been used for those suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) to be able to resume natural sexual function. A chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system, MS is one of the primary causes of disability in young adults. There is no known cure for MS, though some medications can help control the symptoms and slow the progression of the disease. Sexual function is often hampered because the nerve pathways are too damaged to transmit sexual arousal properly. Using sildenafil enables normal erections regardless of nerve damage.

Encouraging off-label results

New research regarding sildenafil shows promising results for treating not just erectile dysfunction resulting from MS, but the disease itself. Studies suggest that sildenafil taken daily reduces the signs of MS very rapidly. In fact, after just a week of this treatment, 50 percent of animal cases were showing near-total recovery. Viagra works by reducing damage to nerve cells, and trials toward this cure are expected to begin very soon.

PostHeaderIcon Cancer Issues – Managing the Associated Stress

Stress is a likely occurrence for families facing cancer. It is helpful to know some practical ways to alleviate stress, or avoid it all together. Some of the most basic methods are; alter the source of stress, avoid the stress, or accept it by building up your resistance.

To Alter Stress: Change the thing that is causing stress. If it is a time crunch, rearrange your schedule; drop some task or errand that isn’t crucial. If it is a specific incident or pending event, write it down on a sheet of paper. Be sure that you just write down one thing at a time, and then list some ways you could handle it: Be creative and think of many ways, even the silly or absurd. Then pick one thing from your list, and do it. Taking action will alter and lessen stress-feeling as if your hands are tied will increase stress. For example, you feel a lot of stress after the doctor informs you that an additional treatment is required:

1) Research the treatment; read up on it, and if you have more questions, call and ask the doctor.
2) Talk to your professional coach or counselor about how you feel and what you need to do next.
3) Vow to avoid jumping to conclusions. Instead, wait and see how the treatment turns out.
4) Sing a song or recite a poem to your dog or cat (or yourself) about how you are feeling. Read aloud from a favorite book that you find comforting.

To Avoid Stress: Walk away or leave the setting you find stressful, or avoid it from the start. You may go on a short drive or a trip for a day or more, ask people not to call you, go to a movie, etc. Knowing your limits helps-if something is past your limit, say no. Think of what your limits are for time, energy, money, the ability to remain happy or cheer people up. If you have used all of these resources for the day, week or month, draw the line. You can replenish your vitality by taking a reprieve from having to give to others continually. You can delegate; someone else will make the appointment, pick up the food, and so on.

To Accept Stress by Building Resistance to it: Prepare for any crisis that may occur, by conditioning yourself to accept stress if or when it occurs. Prepare yourself physically, mentally, socially and spiritually.

- Physically – by eating healthy foods, exercising, proper sleep, & simple relaxation. Just as your body needs exercise, it also needs relaxation.
- Mentally – by clarifying priorities and goals. Make plans monthly, weekly, daily. Implement plans by writing small tasks in your calendar that reflect your plan. Live by that calendar: If tonight is your dine out club, take your cell phone or give the number where you will be, and go have fun. If you planned to enroll this semester at school, keep your plan. Your calendar is your foundation for mental health. Since you have a life, as reflected in your calendar, disappointing or stressful events will affect you, but not nearly as much as if you had no life of your own. The calendar points your way to the future that you have chosen.
- Socially – by asking for support from extended family, friends, your community and social groups to which you belong.
- Spiritually – by prayer, fellowship, meditation.

Remember, stress is not reality. Stress is how your mind reacts to the reality around it. For instance, when you receive a message from the doctor asking you to call, your automatic response may be stress, but you can pause-choose to remain neutral, and check back with the doctor. If the news is disappointing, you can once again become stressed or listen to your Higher Power-realize that stress will make it worse for all concerned. The news is beyond your control-but how you react to the news is absolutely within your control.

PostHeaderIcon Attitudes towards sex

No matter what the physical or psychological causes of sexual dysfunction, there’s a single underlying problem. Our society has become increasingly convinced everything can be perfect the first and every time. Although consistency is desirable, it’s almost impossible to guarantee every experience will always meet the same high standards. This means many people are setting themselves up to feel dissatisfied with their own or other people’s performance. Although this may not be too serious a problem in everyday living, it can become more dangerous when it comes to sex. There’s a mythology about sexual activity that often gives rise to high expectations. Our young are often led to believe the first experience will be extraordinary. Disappointment is therefore quite common. If these disappointments are repeated, it can affect libido and people can lose some or all their interest in sexual activity.

Physical and psychological causes of erectile dysfunction

Some causes of erectile dysfunction are purely physical. This can be an injury affecting the spine or lower part of the body, there may be damage to the nervous system because of diabetes or similar diseases, or it may be a symptom of cardiovascular disease. The most common cause is too high a level of carbohydrates in the bloodstream. This produces a deposit of platelets on the walls on the arteries and slowly restricts the flow. If the penile artery is affected, erections fail. Dysfunction can also be a side-effect of some common drugs.

The psychological causes are fairly easy to list. Libido may be lost because of a trauma, e.g. abuse or coercion, or a deep depression, i.e. any disastrous social event may have long-lasting consequences or a man may become so depressed he loses interest in all aspects of life. Performance anxiety is slight less serious where fear of failure becomes dominant and the man stops trying. In younger men, there can also be sexual confusion as to orientation. If the man is actually gay, there may be no consistent sexual response to a female.

The proper treatment and Viagra‘s help

Physical causes can be treated by more conventional treatments for the underlying cause and the use of Viagra to give a boost to performance.

Psychological causes have to be resolved by counseling and therapy before sexual activity can be resumed. The problem is that, unless the mind finds the situation sexually stimulating, there will be no erection. This means treatment with antidepressants or other drugs to reduce anxiety alongside behavioral therapy. The plan is to reduce the level of depression and then work on relieving any performance anxiety. This means talking through attitudes toward sex and changing expectations. Some teaching to improve social skills will also help. Once the talking has done its work, Viagra and the creation of non-demanding sexual situations can build confidence.

Importance of mutual understanding bettween partners

The aim is to improve sexual behavior, get a better response from the partner and so build responsiveness. The better the relationship between the parties, the better the sex is likely to become. This means both parties have to improve the way they communicate with each other. Only if they both understand what the other wants, what fantasies the other has, and what gives the most pleasure, can the sexual relationship become genuinely successful.
